Preparation for Installation
Introduction
Any medical computer complex produced by XAI-MEDICA is a set consisting of
equipment (electroencephalograph, spirograph, rheograph), additional components such as lead cables,
electrodes, and software (SW) that is installed on a computer to handle tasks related to the registration,
analysis, and storage of data received from medical equipment.
The installation of the complex on a computer is performed in the following order:
- Preparation for installation.
- Connecting the equipment to any free USB port.
- Installing drivers for the equipment.
- Installing software (SW) for Neurocom, Reocom, Reocom Stress, Spirocom complexes, and related software.
- Licensing.
Each of these stages will be described in more detail below. To install the software, you need to determine
your operating system (Windows) and which complexes you want to install.
Installation Specifics for x86 or x64 Operating Systems
XAI-MEDICA software is released in x86 and x64 versions, provided in separate distributions.
The software uses the third-party component Microsoft Access Database Engine for its
operation.
Attention! If software already installed on your PC requires a specific version of
Microsoft Access Database Engine, reinstalling a different version will cause that software to malfunction.
Recommendations:
- If the Microsoft Access Database Engine distribution is not installed, you have a choice: if you need
to work with large data files (multi-hour study recordings) and the computer has an x64 operating
system,
you should install the x64 version. In all other cases, we recommend installing the x86 version.
- If the Microsoft Access Database Engine distribution is already installed, install the XAI-MEDICA
software of the same version (x86 or x64) as the installed Microsoft Access Database Engine.
EQUIPMENT Installation
Before connecting the equipment to the computer, check for the presence of a ground loop and ensure
the computer is completely disconnected from the electrical network.
Sequence of operations:
- Connect the device to a free USB port.
- The operating system will report new equipment. Specify the path to the previously prepared
"Universal Driver" (drv.zip).
Driver Installation Nuances
Installing a driver with our PID on a 64-bit OS that refuses to install uncertified drivers:
- After clicking "Update Driver," choose manual driver selection.
- Click "I will choose the driver from a list of already installed drivers" -> "Install from disk."
- Point to any *.inf file of the driver.
- Be sure to uncheck "Show compatible hardware".
- Select FTDI from the manufacturer list on the left. Select the very first item on the
right.
- When the system warning appears, choose "Continue anyway."
Software Installation
Complex SW Installation
- Uninstall the previous version before installing a new one.
- If several complexes are installed (e.g., Reocom and Spirocom), update the software for all of them at
once,
as they share a common software core.
- Run the Online Installer and select the required systems.
- If an error occurs while creating the database after installation, Microsoft Access Database Engine must
be installed.
Installing Microsoft Access Database Engine (for x64 systems)
The optimal option is to install the x64 version of Microsoft Office. If Office x86 is already installed,
the x64 Access Engine will not install. Options:
- 1. Uninstall x86 Office and install x64 version.
- 2. Uninstall x86 Office, install x64 Access Engine, then reinstall x86 Office.
- 3. Uninstall the x64 version of our software and install the x86 version.
EQUIPMENT Binding (LICENSING)
License Request Instruction
- Connect the equipment (the indicator/LED should light up).
- If it's the first run: create a database, register one patient, and perform "Record new visit"
(even if a license error occurs).
- Menu "?" — "About the system" -> button "To file". Save the data.
- If there is a "Lic Template" button, save it as well.
- Send these files to XAI-MEDICA: https://xai-medica.com/en/contacts.html.
License Installation Instruction
The license is installed separately for each Windows user:
- Run the program with the equipment connected.
- Menu "?" — "About the system" -> button "Install license".
- Specify the path to the received file and restart the program.
